Roses in Tashkent: How to Choose and Keep Your Bouquet Fresh
How to Choose Fresh Roses in Tashkent
Roses are the most popular gift flowers worldwide. But not all roses are equal. Here's how to spot a fresh bloom and which varieties last longest in Tashkent's climate.
Signs of a Fresh Rose
The bud should be firm and springy. If petals bend back easily, the rose is past its prime. Gently squeeze the base — a fresh bud will bounce back.
The stem should be straight, green, and free of dark spots. Check the cut end — it should be light-colored, not brown.
The leaves should be glossy without dry tips. Yellowing or dropping leaves indicate an old flower.
Best Rose Varieties for Tashkent
Ecuadorian roses — large, vibrant, with long stems. They last 7-14 days with proper care. Perfect for gift bouquets.
Kenyan roses — compact with delicate shades. Excellent for designer arrangements and wedding bouquets.
Uzbek roses — fragrant and affordable. Season runs May through October. The most aromatic roses you'll find.
How to Make Your Bouquet Last
- Trim the stems at a 45° angle with a sharp knife. Never use scissors — they crush the stem.
- Clean water — change it daily. Add a flower food packet or ½ teaspoon of sugar.
- Keep cool — away from direct sunlight and air conditioning. Ideal temperature is 18-22°C.
- Remove lower leaves — any that would sit in water. Otherwise the water turns murky quickly.
At Studio Amina, we only send first-cut roses sourced directly from suppliers. Every bouquet is arranged to order — that's why our roses last up to 14 days.
